Nevada Revised Statutes 440.125 – State Registrar required to ensure security and confidentiality of vital statistics; release of certain vital statistics

1. In accordance with the regulations adopted by the Board, the State Registrar shall ensure the security and confidentiality of vital statistics maintained by his or her office.
Terms Used In Nevada Revised Statutes 440.125
- Board: means the State Board of Health. See Nevada Revised Statutes 440.010
- State Registrar: means the State Registrar of Vital Statistics. See Nevada Revised Statutes 440.060
- vital statistics: means records of birth, legitimation of birth, death, fetal death, marriage, annulment of marriage, divorce and data incidental thereto. See Nevada Revised Statutes 440.080
2. Except as otherwise provided in this section and NRS 440.170, 440.175 and 440.650, information relating to vital statistics may be released:
(a) If the vital statistic is a certificate of birth, 125 years after the date of the birth.
(b) If the vital statistic is a certificate of death, 50 years after the date of the death.
