Nevada Revised Statutes 645A.021 – Application: Educational prerequisites; regulations
1. In addition to any other requirement, an applicant for an original license as an escrow agent or agency must furnish proof satisfactory to the Commissioner of the successful completion of a course of instruction in the principles, practices, procedures, law and ethics of escrows, which course may be an extension or correspondence course offered by the Nevada System of Higher Education, by any other accredited college or university or by any other college or school approved by the Commissioner.
Terms Used In Nevada Revised Statutes 645A.021
- Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Mortgage Lending. See Nevada Revised Statutes 645A.010
- Escrow: Money given to a third party to be held for payment until certain conditions are met.
- Escrow: means any transaction wherein one person, for the purpose of effecting or closing the sale, purchase, exchange, transfer, encumbering or leasing of real or personal property to another person or persons, delivers any written instrument, money, evidence of title to real or personal property, or other thing of value to a third person to be held by such third person until the happening of a specified event or the performance of a prescribed condition, when it is then to be delivered by such third person, in compliance with instructions under which he or she is to act, to a grantee, grantor, promisee, promisor, obligee, obligor, lessee, lessor, bailee, bailor or any agent or employee thereof. 2. An applicant for a license as an escrow agent or agency pursuant to NRS 645A.020 must meet the educational prerequisites required pursuant to this section not later than the date on which his or her application is received by the Office of the Commissioner.
3. The Commissioner shall adopt regulations setting forth standards for the educational prerequisites required pursuant to this section. The regulations must address standards for instructors, the scope and content of the instruction, required hours of instruction and such other criteria as the Commissioner considers necessary.
