1. Except as otherwise provided in NRS 691D.220 or NRS 691E.270, a producer of insurance who is appointed as an agent may pay a commission or compensation for or on account of the selling, soliciting, procuring or negotiating of insurance in this State only to a licensed and appointed producer of insurance of the insurer with whom insurance was placed or to a licensed producer acting as a broker.
2. A licensee shall not accept any commission or compensation to which the licensee is not entitled pursuant to the provisions of this title.
