  • Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
  • Attachment: A procedure by which a person's property is seized to pay judgments levied by the court.
  • Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • county: includes Carson City. See Nevada Revised Statutes 0.033
  • Department: means the Department of Motor Vehicles. See Nevada Revised Statutes 481.015
  • Director: means the Director of the Department. See Nevada Revised Statutes 481.015
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.

  • permanent identifying: as used in this chapter with respect to the number of a vehicle subject to registration under this chapter shall, for the purpose of the registration or departmental record thereof, or any evidence of such registration, be construed to mean such identification, or permanent identifying number of any vehicle which the manufacturer thereof may, in its discretion, adopt or has adopted as an identification or permanent identifying number of the vehicles manufactured by it, or which the Director may approve as the identification number, in lieu of or in addition to a motor number or serial number or a motor and serial number.   • person: means a natural person, any form of business or social organization and any other nongovernmental legal entity including, but not limited to, a corporation, partnership, association, trust or unincorporated organization. See Nevada Revised Statutes 0.039
  • population: means the number of people in a specified area as determined by the last preceding national decennial census conducted by the Bureau of the Census of the United States Department of Commerce pursuant to Section 2 of Nevada Revised Statutes 0.050
  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
