I. Whenever 10 or more municipalities within the state shall have voted to authorize their respective fire departments to render outside aid as provided in N.H. Rev. Stat. § 154:24-30, they may, if they so desire, form a district fire mutual aid system, which shall be a public municipal corporation. They may petition the state fire marshal in writing to call the organizational meeting of the system.
II. Fewer than 10 municipalities which have complied with paragraph I of this section may petition the state fire marshal who may accept or reject the petition. The state fire marshal shall consider the fire protection needs of the applicants and the effect of the proposed system upon the fire protection of other municipalities.

Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 154:30-a
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- petition: when used in connection with the equity jurisdiction of the superior court, and referring to a document filed with the court, shall mean complaint, and "petitioner" shall mean plaintiff. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:51
- state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
