Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 165:16

Whenever any person, a resident in this state, who served in the armed forces of the United States in any of the wars or conflicts defined in N.H. Rev. Stat. § 165:17 for a total of 90 days, unless sooner released from such service by reason of disability incurred in service, and whose services were terminated under conditions other than dishonorable, dies and did not leave sufficient estate to pay the expenses of his funeral, or was an assisted person, the overseers of public welfare shall cause him to be decently buried at the expense of the municipality in which he died. Funds received from the Department of Veterans Affairs towards burial expenses shall be retained by the municipality. The municipality shall make a request to the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide a suitable monument.
