As used in this chapter:
I. “County assisted person” means an individual who is eligible for and receiving old age assistance, aid to the permanently and totally disabled or nursing home care in an intermediate care facility. Nothing in this paragraph shall be construed to mean that the county is responsible for providing general assistance to any town or city assisted person, except in accordance with N.H. Rev. Stat. § 165:33 and 165:34.

Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 166:1

  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies corporate and politic as well as to individuals. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:9
  • state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
  • Veteran: means any person who:
    (1) Served in the United States armed forces for more than 4 years and continues to serve; or
    (2) Has been discharged or released from duty in the United States armed forces with:
    (A) An honorable discharge; or
    (B) An uncharacterized discharge based on a service-connected injury, illness, or disability. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:50

II. “Disabled individual” means a person receiving state administered aid to the totally and permanently disabled, veteran‘s disability benefits, social security disability benefits, supplemental security income benefits, or other disability benefits administered under the state or federal government.
III. “Elderly” means anyone 55 years of age and older.
