Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 228:88
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Precedent: A court decision in an earlier case with facts and law similar to a dispute currently before a court. Precedent will ordinarily govern the decision of a later similar case, unless a party can show that it was wrongly decided or that it differed in some significant way.
- state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
Any foreign corporation which shall engage in intrastate business as a common carrier by rail within this state after May 1, 1919, shall be subject to the provisions of N.H. Rev. Stat. § 228:76-92, and, by applying for authority to begin or by continuing to engage in such intrastate business after said date, shall be deemed to have consented to said provisions as a condition precedent to its right to engage in such intrastate business.
