Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 232:18
- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- petition: when used in connection with the equity jurisdiction of the superior court, and referring to a document filed with the court, shall mean complaint, and "petitioner" shall mean plaintiff. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:51
Upon motion of any town interested in a petition for a highway, referred to the commissioners, they may apportion the damages assessed and the expense of laying out and making the highway among the several towns in which it may be, in such sum or shares to each as they may think just.
