- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
No land or other property taken for a highway or alteration laid out by the county commissioners shall be appropriated or used for making the same until judgment is entered on the report that the highway or alteration is legally laid out and established, and the damages awarded have been tendered or paid in the same manner as required of selectmen.
