Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 261:74-a
- Commissioner: shall mean the commissioner of safety. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 259:13
- Director: shall mean the director of the division of motor vehicles of the department of safety. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 259:20
- Division: shall mean the division of motor vehicles in the department of safety. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 259:22
- governing body: shall mean the board of selectmen in a town, the board of aldermen or council in a city or town with a town council, the school board in a school district or the village district commissioners in a village district, or when used to refer to unincorporated towns or unorganized places, or both, the county commissioners. With the approval of the governing body of a city or town and subject to the direction and approval of the commissioner, the director may appoint municipal officials as agents to issue, renew or transfer motor vehicle registrations. The director shall determine the optimum number of registration agents that the division can reasonably accommodate. The appointment of any municipal official as a registration agent for the purposes of this subdivision shall continue while the agent holds his office or employment with the municipality, except as provided in N.H. Rev. Stat. § 261:74-b and 261:74-f.
