Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 263:56-g
- Director: shall mean the director of the division of motor vehicles of the department of safety. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 259:20
- Division: shall mean the division of motor vehicles in the department of safety. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 259:22
- Driver: shall mean a person who drives or is in actual physical control of a motor vehicle as defined in N. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 259:25
- License: shall mean any driver's license or any other license or permit to drive a vehicle issued under the laws of this state or a reciprocating state including:

I. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 259:106 - Suspension: shall mean the temporary withdrawal by formal action of the department or of a court of competent jurisdiction of a person's driver's license or privilege to drive a vehicle on the ways of this state, or any other license, registration or permit issued by the department, which temporary withdrawal shall be for a period specifically designated by the department or court and until the reissuance of the license, registration, permit or privilege. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 259:107
- United States: shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
Upon receipt of official notice, in any form which the director deems appropriate, including electronic transmissions, that a driver licensed by the state of New Hampshire, or any applicant for a driver’s license in the state of New Hampshire, has had a driver’s license or right to operate suspended or revoked in another state, territory, or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a province or territory of Canada, the director shall not issue a license to the person and, if a license has already been issued, the director shall notify the driver in writing by first class mail that the driver’s license may be suspended or revoked on the date which is 30 days from the date of notification unless the driver requests an administrative hearing before the suspension or revocation takes effect. A request for a hearing shall be in writing. A request for a hearing received by the division more than 30 days from the date the notice was issued shall be denied as untimely. If the other state, territory, possession, district, commonwealth, or province has reinstated or subsequently reinstates the license or right to operate of the person, he or she may apply to the director for reinstatement of the license in the state of New Hampshire.
