I. As used in the compact, the term “licensing authority”, with reference to this state, shall mean the division of motor vehicles of the department of safety. The division of motor vehicles shall furnish to the appropriate authorities of any other party state any information or documents reasonably necessary to facilitate the administration of articles III, IV, and V of the compact, except as otherwise prohibited by law.
II. When discharging his or her duties under article IV of the compact, the director, or designee, as head of the licensing authority of this state, is authorized to impose the suspensions, revocations, or other limitations upon the driver‘s licenses of New Hampshire residents convicted of offenses identified in article IV, as if such conduct had occurred in this state. The director, or designee, is authorized to exercise the discretion accorded by state law exclusively related to the extension and suspension of the periods of driver’s license revocation authorized by state law for convictions for offenses identified in article IV. The commissioner of safety shall develop and adopt rules, under RSA 541-A, to implement the authority provided under N.H. Rev. Stat. § 263:77, as described in this paragraph.
