Whenever special pedestrian-control signals exhibiting the words “Walk” or “Don’t Walk,” or symbols of a “walking person” or “upraised hand,” are in place such signals shall indicate as follows:
I. Walk-Pedestrians facing such signal may proceed across the roadway in the direction of the signal and shall be given the right of way by the drivers of all vehicles.
II. Don’t Walk-No pedestrian shall start to cross the roadway in the direction of such signals if such crossing interferes with vehicular traffic; however, any pedestrian who has partially completed crossing shall proceed to a sidewalk or safety island.

Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 265:11
- roadway: means that portion of a way improved, designed, or ordinarily used for vehicular travel, including the berm or shoulder where such berm or shoulder is used by persons riding bicycles or other human powered vehicles. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 259:75-b
- Traffic: shall mean pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, vehicles, streetcars, and other conveyances either singly or together while using any way for purposes of travel. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 259:110
