Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 402-H:11-a

  • Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies corporate and politic as well as to individuals. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:9
  • state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
A person who directly or indirectly underwrites, collects charges or premiums from, or adjusts or settles claims on residents of this state, and who is not otherwise required to obtain a certificate of authority or license in connection with life, annuity, or health coverage provided by a self-funded plan shall register with the commissioner by March 1 of each year, verifying its status as herein described. The registration requirement shall not apply to those persons or entities that are specifically exempted by N.H. Rev. Stat. § 402-H:1, I. Registrants under this section shall not be required to hold a certificate of authority as an administrator in this state or to meet the other requirements of this chapter.
