Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 463:29

  • Decedent: A deceased person.
  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
The guardian of the estate of a minor shall have the right to waive provisions of a will in favor of the minor or the minor’s distributive share in a decedent‘s estate and shall likewise have power to release any other property right of the minor subject to prior authorization of the court, for good cause shown, and take for and receive on behalf of the minor the same property and rights.
