Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 466:52
- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
If the custodian of a registered guard dog has had the dog’s registration voided pursuant to N.H. Rev. Stat. § 466:51, the custodian may request in writing a hearing before the city council or board of selectmen, as appropriate, and said hearing shall be conducted within 30 days of receipt of the request for the hearing. The decision of either the city council or board of selectmen shall be final; provided, however, the custodian may appeal to the appropriate superior court within 30 days for a trial de novo.
