Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 510:6

  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
  • state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
  • Writ: A formal written command, issued from the court, requiring the performance of a specific act.
A writ of scire facias may be served, in case the defendant is not an inhabitant of the state, on the attorney who appeared for him in the original action or as otherwise provided in N.H. Rev. Stat. § 510:4.
