Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 617:9
- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- justice: when applied to a magistrate, shall mean a justice of a municipal court, or a justice of the peace having jurisdiction over the subject-matter. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:12
An appeal may be claimed by either party from a decree made by a justice of a district court or municipal court in the same manner as in other civil actions, and like proceedings may be had therein as in the case of libels originally filed in the superior court.
