Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes > Chapter 141-B - Chronic Disease Prevention, Assessment and Control

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Chronic disease: means any disease, illness, impairment, or other physical condition which requires medical care and treatment over a prolonged period. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 141-B:3
  • Commissioner: means the commissioner of the department of health and human services. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 141-B:3
  • Department: means the department of health and human services. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 141-B:3
  • Prevention services: means organized activities which are capable of reducing the incidence and prevalence of chronic disease. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 141-B:3
  • Risk assessment: means the measurement and evaluation of specific lifestyle and environmental conditions to determine the presence of and extent of the threat resulting from these factors that may increase the risk of developing chronic disease. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 141-B:3
  • Screening: means activities which may be used to identify the earliest signs of a chronic disease. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 141-B:3
