Terms Used In Tennessee Code 17-539
- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
- Person: includes a corporation, firm, company or association. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Record: means information that is inscribed on a tangible medium or that is stored in an electronic or other medium and is retrievable in a perceivable form. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Retirement: means withdrawal from membership with a retirement allowance granted under chapters 34-37 of this title. See Tennessee Code 8-34-101
Any person who knowingly makes any false statement or falsifies or permits to be falsified any record or records of this retirement system in an attempt to defraud such system, is guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500), or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than twelve (12) months, or both such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the court.
