Terms Used In Tennessee Code 42-6-109
- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Person: means any individual, firm, copartnership, corporation, company, association, joint stock association, or body politic and includes any trustee, receiver, assignee, or other similar representative thereof. See Tennessee Code 42-6-101
- Political subdivision: means any municipality or county. See Tennessee Code 42-6-101
- Property: includes both personal and real property. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Structure: means any object constructed or installed by humans, including, but not limited to, buildings, towers, smokestacks, and overhead transmission lines. See Tennessee Code 42-6-101
- Tree: means any object of natural growth. See Tennessee Code 42-6-101
