Terms Used In Tennessee Code 43-8-203
- Commissioner: means the commissioner of agriculture. See Tennessee Code 43-8-102
- Pesticide: means any substance or mixture of substances or chemical intended for defoliating or desiccating plants or for preventing, destroying, repelling, or mitigating any insects, rodents, fungi, bacteria, weeds or other forms of plant or animal life the commissioner shall declare to be a pest. See Tennessee Code 43-8-102
- written: includes printing, typewriting, engraving, lithography, and any other mode of representing words and letters. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
Each applicant for an original license must demonstrate, upon written, or written and oral, examination to be prescribed by the commissioner, the applicant’s knowledge of pesticides, their usefulness and their hazards, the applicant’s competence as a pesticide dealer and the applicant’s knowledge of the laws and regulations governing the use and sale of pesticides.
