(a) The commissioner may acquire by purchase at least one set of copies of the primary standards to be kept in a place designated by the commissioner and to be known as secondary standards, and also such field standards and other equipment as may be found necessary to carry out this part.

Terms Used In Tennessee Code 47-26-905

  • Primary standards: means the physical standards of the state that serve as the legal reference from which all other standards and weights are derived. See Tennessee Code 47-26-902
  • Secondary standards: means the physical standards that are traceable to the primary standards through comparisons, using acceptable laboratory procedures, and used in the enforcement of weights and measures laws and regulations. See Tennessee Code 47-26-902
(b) The secondary standards and field standards shall be verified upon their initial receipt and as often thereafter as deemed necessary by the commissioner.
