Terms Used In Tennessee Code 49-18-110

  • Participating student: means any eligible student enrolled in a course access program course through a host LEA. See Tennessee Code 49-18-102
  • provider: means a business, industry, educator, nonprofit entity, for-profit entity, trade association, branch of the United States armed forces, LEA, charter school, charter management organization, institution of higher education, or state agency that is approved by the state board to offer individual courses in person or online and that is included in the listing of providers in the course access catalog. See Tennessee Code 49-18-102
  • Transcript: A written, word-for-word record of what was said, either in a proceeding such as a trial or during some other conversation, as in a transcript of a hearing or oral deposition.
  • written: includes printing, typewriting, engraving, lithography, and any other mode of representing words and letters. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
(1) Provide written notice to students and parents on the availability of courses and the timeline for students to enroll; and
(2) Publish information and eligibility guidelines on the home LEA’s website.
(b) Each home LEA shall establish policies and procedures to ensure that credits earned through the course provider shall appear on the participating student‘s official transcript and shall count towards the requirements of any approval of a high school diploma awarded by a home LEA.
(c) Nothing in this chapter shall prevent an LEA from establishing its own online program or supplemental course offerings or require an LEA to revise an existing program.
