Terms Used In Tennessee Code 55-17-105

  • Commission: means the motor vehicle commission created by this part. See Tennessee Code 55-17-102
  • Person: means every natural person, partnership, corporation, association, trust, estate, or any other legal entity. See Tennessee Code 55-17-102
  • Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.
  • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
(b) The commission shall meet at least once quarterly, such meetings to be in the months of January, April, July, and October. Special meetings may be held upon call of the chair upon adequate notice given by the executive director to the members of the commission and other interested parties.
(c) A majority of the membership to which the commission is entitled shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of official business.
(d)

(1) Any member who misses more than fifty percent (50%) of the scheduled meetings in a calendar year shall be removed as a member of the commission.
(2) The commission’s executive director shall promptly notify, or cause to be notified, the appointing authority of any member who fails to satisfy the attendance requirement as prescribed in subdivision (d)(1). If the commission does not appoint a person to serve as its executive director, the commission’s presiding officer shall promptly notify, or cause to be notified, the appointing authority of any member who fails to satisfy the attendance requirement as prescribed in subdivision (d)(1).
