Terms Used In Tennessee Code 6-3-108
- Board: means the mayor and the aldermen. See Tennessee Code 6-1-101
- Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.
In the absence of the mayor and vice mayor, the board may elect an alderman to act as presiding officer.
