Terms Used In Tennessee Code 68-201-114

  • Air pollution: means presence in the outdoor atmosphere of one (1) or more air contaminants in sufficient quantities and of such characteristics and duration as to be injurious to human, plant or animal life or to property, or which unreasonably interfere with the enjoyment of life and property. See Tennessee Code 68-201-102
  • Common law: The legal system that originated in England and is now in use in the United States. It is based on judicial decisions rather than legislative action.
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.

The remedies provided for in this part are intended to provide additional and cumulative remedies to prevent, abate and control air pollution in this state. Nothing in this part shall be construed to abridge or alter any rights of action, civil or criminal, arising from statute, common law or equity.
