Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 17B:30-13.2

  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Failure of any person to maintain a complete record of all the complaints which it has received since the date of its last examination shall be a practice prohibited by N.J.S. 17B:30-2. This record shall indicate the total number of complaints, their classification by line of insurance, the nature of each complaint, the disposition of these complaints, and the time it took to process each complaint. For purposes of this section “complaint” means any written communication primarily expressing a grievance.
