Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 18A:17-50

  • Board: means the board of education. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
  • District: means a school district. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 2. Commencing September 1, 2002, no person shall be employed by a board of education of a school district as a buildings and grounds supervisor unless he is a certified educational facilities manager; except that when a vacancy occurs in a position in which the duties of a buildings and grounds supervisor are performed, a board may select, for a period not to exceed two years and commencing on the date of the vacancy, a person who is not a certified educational facilities manager to perform on an interim basis, the duties of a buildings and grounds supervisor.
