Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 18A:23-1
- Board: means the board of education. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
- District: means a school district. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
- Public school: means a school, under college grade, which derives its support entirely or in part from public funds. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
18A:23-1. The board of education of every school district shall cause an annual audit of the district’s accounts and financial transactions to be made by a public school accountant employed by it, which audit shall be completed not later than 5 months after the end of the school fiscal year.
