Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 18A:7-2

  • Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Education. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
  • County superintendent: means the County Superintendent of Schools. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 18A:7-2. The commissioner may designate any one of his assistant commissioners or another suitable person to exercise the powers and perform the duties of the executive county superintendent without additional compensation:

a. During any period when an executive county superintendent shall be unable to perform his duties by reason of illness, physical disability or for any other cause; and

b. During any period when the office of executive county superintendent shall be vacant in any county by reason of the death or resignation of the incumbent or for any other cause.
