- Charity: An agency, institution, or organization in existence and operating for the benefit of an indefinite number of persons and conducted for educational, religious, scientific, medical, or other beneficent purposes.
A hospital shall not advertise by any means the availability of uncompensated care that is provided at the hospital pursuant to this act. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit a hospital from advertising its requirement to provide charity care under the federal Hill-Burton program pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 291 et seq.
