Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 27:25-5.10

  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State.   • Summons: Another word for subpoena used by the criminal justice system.
5. A person subject to the issuance of a complaint and summons under this act shall cooperate in the issuance of the complaint and summons by providing the person’s name and address. It shall be a violation of this act for a person to fail to cooperate in the issuance of a summons including failure to provide the person’s name and address, or by providing a false name or address and shall subject the person to all other provisions and remedies provided by law or regulation, in addition to the penalties provided in this act.
