Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 2A:166A-2
- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Juror: A person who is on the jury.
- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
The expenses for which a county shall be entitled to reimbursement shall be limited to fees allowed to counsel assigned by the trial court pursuant to section 2A:163-1 of the New Jersey Statutes, juror and expert witness fees, the costs of sequestering jurors and jury attendants, the cost of transcripts of court proceedings, and the costs of printing in connection with any appeal.
