Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 2A:57-3

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. If any person, to whom a gross sum is awarded as provided by section 2A:57-1 or section 2A:57-2 of this title, shall refuse to accept the same when tendered, together with such costs as may be awarded to him, and to execute and acknowledge a proper receipt therefor in such form as to make it recordable, the gross sum and the costs awarded may be paid into court to the clerk thereof. Such payment shall have the same effect as if made to and accepted by the person to whom it was awarded.
