Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 30:1-8
- Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
- Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Human Services. See New Jersey Statutes 30:1-1
- State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
The commissioner shall be appointed by the Governor, after consultation with the State board, with the advice and consent of the Senate, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor during the Governor’s term of office and until the appointment and qualification of the commissioner’s successor. The commissioner shall receive such salary as shall be provided by law. He shall devote his entire time to the performance of his duties. Appointment of a commissioner shall not be restricted to residents of the State.
