Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 30:4-124
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
The state board shall establish a uniform system of records, reports, statistics, memoranda and data relating to inmates, patients and prisoners and shall from time to time make recommendations to the courts of appropriate jurisdiction for the purpose of enabling courts or judicial officers to impose sentences and authorize admissions or commitments more uniformly and with better effect.
