Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 30:4E-10
- Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Human Services. See New Jersey Statutes 30:1-1
- Department: means the Department of Human Services. See New Jersey Statutes 30:1-1
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
- State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
Any person who is a resident of this State, with resources within limits set by the commissioner, and is 65 years of age or older and is eligible for Medicare benefits or has other medical insurance which includes physician coverage and hospitalization, and whose annual income is less than $18,000.00 if single, or if married, whose annual income combined with that of his spouse is less than $21,000.00, is eligible for assistance under the program.
Any person under the age of 65 who is determined to be disabled by the Social Security Administration (SSA) or by the Division of Public Welfare, Bureau of Medical Affairs in the Department of Human Services, using SSA criteria, and is eligible for Medicare benefits, or has other medical coverage which includes physician and hospital coverage and who meets the income eligibility requirements of this section, is eligible for assistance under the program.
