Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 30:6-18
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. (a) “Blind person” means a person whose vision in his better eye with proper correction does not exceed 20/200 or who has a field defect in his better eye with proper correction which contracts the peripheral field so that the diameter of the visual field subtends an angle no greater than 20 degrees.
(b) “Goods or articles made by blind persons” shall be construed to mean goods or articles in the manufacture of which not less than 75% of the total hours of direct labor is performed by a blind person or persons.
(c) “Direct labor” means all work required for the preparation, processing and assembling goods or articles including the packaging and packing thereof, but not including time spent in the supervision, administration, inspection and shipping of such operations, or in the production of component materials by other than blind persons.
