- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Application for such a license shall be made to the commissioner by any family or member thereof, or any person desiring to manufacture, alter, repair, finish or distribute any goods in any dwelling, tenement, or room therein, or building situated immediately in the rear of a tenement or dwelling. Each license shall run continuously for a period of one year, whereupon a new or further license must be obtained. Each application for such a license shall describe the dwelling, tenement, room or building, shall specify the number of persons to be employed therein, and be in such form as the commissioner may determine. Blank applications shall be prepared and furnished by the commissioner.
