31. The Division of Veterans’ Healthcare Services shall be under the immediate supervision of a director who shall be qualified by training and experience to direct the work of the division, and shall have prior work experience in a clinical or long-term care facility setting. The director shall be appointed by the Adjutant General, with the approval of the Governor, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Adjutant General.
As used in this section, “clinical” means directly pertaining to the observation, diagnosis, treatment, or rehabilitation of an individual in a hospital, long-term care facility, rehabilitation center, or other similar facility and not through research; and
“long-term care facility” means a nursing home, assisted living residence, comprehensive personal care home, residential health care facility, or dementia care home licensed pursuant to P.L.1971, c.136 (C. 26:2H-1 et seq.).
