- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Upon the application of any person who is a member of the board of chosen freeholders in, or surrogate, county clerk, county register of deeds and mortgages, elected county executive, sheriff, or any other officer of any county, the Director of the Division of Motor Vehicles shall issue for the motor vehicle owned or leased by such person special registration plates bearing the word “freeholder, surrogate, county clerk, county register of deeds and mortgages, elected county executive, or sheriff,” or such other title designation as may be appropriate, in addition to the registration number and other markings or identification otherwise prescribed by law.
These registration plates shall be imprinted with three letters and a numeral.
