- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. No insurance company, or agent thereof, after the passage of such resolution, shall exact or charge a fee or charge for the inspection covered by the inspector as a condition to insuring any building or buildings in which such electrical wires, appliances and currents are introduced or placed.
No person supplying electrical energy shall be compelled to extend its lines or wires more than two hundred and fifty feet to connect such building unless the board of public utility commissioners shall, after hearing, order the extension, and no such person shall be obliged to supply service to any person who is at the time indebted to the person from whom the service connection is sought.
The foregoing provisions shall be enforced by the board of public utility commissioners and the department of banking and insurance respectively.
