- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Any ordinance adopted pursuant to this act may also provide for the appointment of a custodian of any such building or structure on behalf of the municipality, who may be either an officer of the municipality or any other person specially designated to enter into and take charge of the premises and supervise abatement of the nuisance, the correction of the defective condition, or the maintenance of the premises in a proper condition so as to conform to the requirements of municipal ordinances and State laws applicable thereto. In any such case, the compensation of the custodian shall be as provided in the ordinance and the costs and expenses shall be collectible as provided in this act.
