Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 40A:14-123.1
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. In the event such appointee fails to become a resident of New Jersey within the aforementioned 6-month period, he shall then cease to be a member or officer of said police department or force. The governing body shall cause to be served on the officer or member at least 15 days before the expiration of the period of nonresidency permitted, a notice that he is required to become a resident of New Jersey within the time mentioned, and in the event such notice is not given for the officer or member to become a resident of New Jersey the time for the officer or member to become a resident of New Jersey is extended until such notice is given.
