Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 40A:9-3
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. The board of chosen freeholders of any county, or the governing body of any municipality shall not make any rules or regulations designed to bar any person from holding a county or municipal position or employment or applying therefor, who is 40 years of age or more. This section shall be inapplicable to policemen or firemen or guards employed in the service of any county or municipal penal institution or to court attendants in first and second class counties whose duties require the custody and handling of prisoners.
