Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 43:13-22.59a

  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Any person required to become a member of the retirement system pursuant to section 2 of this act shall receive credit for all of his previous service in the employ of the city provided that payments are made by such person in an amount or amounts calculated in accordance with the rules of the commission as may be necessary to provide the entire actuarial cost of the previous service credit. In the event that the person retires before he completes the payment for all of his previous service credit, credit for his service shall be given in direct proportion as the amount paid bears to the total amount of the obligation.
