Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 45:12-26

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Nothing contained in this chapter shall confer upon any person practicing optometry the right to add, affix, or attach to his name the title, designation, character or letters of M.D., surgeon, doctor, unless qualified by the word optometrist, ophthalmologist, or to indicate in any way that he is engaged in the treatment of injuries of the human eye, or to use any therapeutic measures or agencies other than those included in the practice of optometry as defined in section 45:12-1 of this chapter for the treatment of the human eye, unless he is authorized to do so by the board, body or persons empowered by law to award such right or title.
