- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 16. Whenever it shall appear to the board or the Department of Environmental Protection that a person has engaged in, or is engaging in, any unlawful activity under the provisions of this act, the person may be required to file, on a form prescribed by regulation, a statement in writing under oath as to the facts and circumstances concerning the rendering of any service or other violation of this act. The board or the department may examine any person in connection with any act or practice subject to the act, inspect any premises upon which any violation is alleged to have taken place or premises that constitute the licensee’s place of business, and examine any record, book, document, account or paper maintained by or for any licensee in the conduct of his business.
